Tips for Maintaining Good Posture

We get the question all the time - "Doc, how do I maintain good posture?" Maintaining good posture is kind of like eating healthy. Most of us know what foods we should eat and what foods to stay away from, but it's up to us to make the effort and conscious decision to do so. The same goes for our posture.

We all know that good posture means to sit up straight, get your head back over your shoulders, and bring your shoulders back. The most difficult part about maintaining posture is being CONSCIOUS of it. There is no one on earth that has perfect posture 100% of the time. However, those who have the best posture tend to correct their "bad" posture more-so than others.

A helpful tip to maintain good posture at, for example, a desk/computer job would be to err on the side of having your monitor too high rather than too low. Looking down even a few degrees bends the neck down and draws the shoulders forward. At the end of the day, it all comes down to being conscious of your posture and GETTING ADJUSTED!
