Can I still get my adjustments? Yes, you can definitely have chiropractic care after an operation!
Depending on the type of surgery you had will determine to what extent we are able to utilize chiropractic. If a surgical fusion was done, we will not adjust those segments that are fused. We will instead adjust the areas right above and below the fusion, because those areas will now have to do more work - due to the fused area no longer moving the way it should be. Any other area of the spine is perfectly safe to be adjusted.
Discectomies are perfectly safe to be adjusted approximately 6 weeks post-operatively and should be adjusted! The cause of the disc problem quite often originated due to the misalignment of the segments above and below the disc, so adjusting those areas will only benefit you!
